PROGRAM

Does the world need a forum that deals exclusively with the extremes of documentary?

UNDOX invites again to a cinematic expedition into the unknown corners of reality in one of Vienna’s most extraordinary cinema hall, the Blickle Kino in Belvedere 21 – Vienna Museum of Contemporary Art.

In addition to the fragmentary arguing essay “Making Off (Germania Dreamland)” by Istvan Gyöngyösi, who is present, and the struggle for better working conditions in “Organizar lo (im) possible” by Carme Gomila and Tonina Matamalas, both UNDOX program slots are also exploring a wide range of contemporary filmmaking – between two extremes of Pfaundler’s “minimalist” documentarism and the “magical realism” in Michaela Taschek’s ghostly “Doppelganger”. These two very different films, representing the domestic scene, show that at least Vienna knows how to use a forum for an “innovative documentary” well.

Both filmmakers are going to be present; Pfaundler’s film, which will be introduced by this year’s UNDOX curators Sebastian Höglinger (Diagonale) and Alejandro Bachmann, also celebrates its premiere. These two very different films, representing the domestic scene, show that at least Vienna knows well how to use a forum for an “innovative documentary”.
